The general theme of the Internet these days, it seems, is to inspire us to find beauty in the everyday. How many times have we heard that phrase on blogs, Pinterest quotes, inspirational prints on our walls?
We can make a life out of finding beauty in our smallest of moments - the bit of hope our morning coffee brings us for our day, the tragic beauty of leaves turning in October, the bright spot of a lit candle on a rainy day. I love noticing these moments of quiet beauty, and I love documenting them even more. There is poetry all around.
And yet I fear that we, especially we as women, tend to get stuck there. We are desperate to find meaning and beauty in our everyday living, and all too often we are content to stop with the things directly in front of us, the things we can see and touch and Instagram.
But God has been whispering to my heart this past week, There's so much more. My small, simple, imperfect life is beautiful to me but that's not its purpose. I was made for more than looking down on my own little world, like the bird's eye view I so love for taking photos. I was made to look up, to look to God first, and then lower my head and look around me, and see where He's working.
These words are making me alive with energy and joy and hope: There's more. There's more to my business than making money, even more than fulfilling me creatively. There's more to my marriage. More to my friendships. More, even, to how I walk with God.
I am almost giddy to spend the rest of my life uncovering what that more is for me. I don't have an exact answer yet, but I'm praying constantly that God will reveal that to me. I do know this: it means more love. More sacrifice. More adventure. More joy. More abundance. More miracles. More battles. More scars. More victories.
This living for more isn't just for me. I don't know who you are or what your life looks like right now, but God has called you to more, too. Ask Him to reveal the deeper meaning and eternal purposes behind your seemingly normal, everyday existence, and watch as the ground begins to shake and things once hidden are brought to light. And step into your more.
